The album “Managony” by Horizonshine has just been released. Martin was guest vocalist on 3 tracks on the CD (see June 2008 post below).

June 2009

Well, it’s been a fairly quiet year! Martin has been working behind the scenes with budding songwriters and continuing to sing on other peoples demo’s, but has not returned to playing live shows himself. He is currently delving into home recording for the first time, so this coming year may well be more productive.

June 2008

It’s been a long time between posts, so here, finally, is an update.
Martin has spent the last year or so working on a few projects at once. He has been singing lead and backing vocals as a session musician, as well as doing some music sequencing on several ‘themed’ songs, such as “My Boy” and “Daddy’s Not Home” by Ian Purdie and David Byrnes. These songs (and others) were recorded for a radio show focusing on the experiences, and for the support of, single and estranged fathers. For more information on this radio show see www.dadsontheair.net
He has also recently returned from the United States where he performed in Las Vegas and Nashville.

Anyone who is considering shaving their head, know this…it gets damn cold! Sure you do get used to it, but be prepared. Secondly, there is nothing stranger than the sensation of a fly walking on your bald head. No, I take that back, a fly walking into your ear is much worse …as is a spider walking pretty much anywhere, errrhh - so just forget what I started to say. Donations are still being accepted by the foundation, so follow the link in last months blog (below) if you’re feeling generous. Thanks to those who already have!

March 2007

Hi! Martin here.
This post is a bit unusual in that’s it’s not about me.
I just wanted to ask if you would please, please give (even if only a little) to the Leukaemia Foundation. In just under 2 weeks I’m shaving my head to raise funds for the cause. This is a non profit organisation that has a staff of volunteers who supply the families of Leukaemia and other blood cancers with accommodation, transports to and from the hospital, counselling and support during the most difficult times of their lives. Please follow the link below and pledge a few dollars. Thank You….Martin

Recording of the first 2 songs of the new album is almost complete! We have been trying to figure out how to describe them in words for some time now, and have come to the conclusion that we’ve never heard anything quite like these songs! Imagine watching a three way car crash between ‘Queen’, ‘Madison Avenue’ and ‘The Flying Lizards’! Now try to see in your mind ‘TV Rock’ as the ambulance drivers, the ‘Tap Dogs’ watching from the side of the road thumping out their best wishes, and a country singer with a pen and paper trying to describe what they see.

Do you see it? Do you have it in your mind? Oh no you don’t!! (but that’s as close as you can get without hearing it)!

Stay tuned!

July 2006

Martin has been busy writing a new batch of songs for his next project. This album will lean heavily towards pop and dance music; a monumental departure in musical style from the bush ballad released earlier this year. Working again with multi instrumentalist and producer David Byrnes, they plan to release the music under a band name which is yet to be finalised. When asked what he thought his fans would think about this new style of music Martin said “it’s a bit of a change”. “We’re looking at it as a new band and a completely different product that will appeal to a different audience”. “I like a lot of different types of music, so it doesn’t seem strange for me to explore them when I’m writing songs”.

No time frame has yet been announced for the new release.

With Anzac Day just gone, our thanks go to the television and radio stations who have played the new single, with a special mention to radio 2ST.
